Dysregulated aromatase expression: the link between obesity and breast cancer Obesity has been associated with abnormally high expression of the enzyme aromatase in the breast, influencing the local production and bioavailability of estrogens (Morris et al, 2011, Subbaramaiah et al, 2012). Experimental Section Results and Discussion Conclusions The advantages of the novel enzymo-chemical method for Mn and Co assay are simplicity of analytical procedure and economic effect due to the usage of only one enzyme in the form of apo-enzyme. An effectiveness of the apo-arginase-based

The electrokinetic remediation technique is carried out with a low-level direct current, and the pollutants in soil can be transported and removed by the electric field [19]. This works well even in soil with low permeability via electro-osmotic flow and electro-migration [20]. The electrokinetic pr

This unsuspected antagonistic interaction of androgen with OXER1 could therefore explain the effect of plant derived compounds with this ligand-receptor system. For example, wedelolactone, a coumestan found in Eclipta alba (false daisy) and in Wedelia calendulacea that is the major component of ecli

Recent results suggest that TARPs are not the only auxiliary AMPAR subunits. Using a proteomic strategy (affinity purification of native AMPAR complexes followed by mass-spectrometric analysis), cornichon-related proteins (CNIHs) have been recently identified as components of the AMPAR protein micro

Functional repercussions of each trimming pathway A main difference between the two pathways presented in Fig. 1 lies in enzyme kinetics and selectivity. In pathway #1, the substrate for ERAP1 is free peptide, and so both kinetics and selectivity are determined by interactions between the peptide

Imaging QTL studies may have several potential advantages over case-control studies, including increased power . Imaging endophenotypes of disease in QTL studies can separate patients and normal subjects more accurately and therefore limit the confound of including asymptomatic subjects in the contr

The first rationally designed dual mPGES-1/5-LO inhibitor was reported in 2008 and represents a structural derivative of pirinixic 98 2 - a synthetic agonist of PPARα with lipid-lowering properties (Koeberle et al., 2008b). Further α-alkyl- and α-aryl-substituted derivatives have been synthesized a

Axl has been reported to mediate cell-cell adhesion and sphere-growth [11], [18] and to be important for metastasis to secondary organs [12], [14], [20]. We found an Axl-dependent CCRCC-ability of sphere-formation and repopulation after non-adhesive growth. Axl-inhibited cells could not attach to ea

During preparation of this manuscript, some studies investigating effects of Sunitinib on Axl activity in renal cancer have been published [44], [45], [46], [47]. However, there are several important considerations to take into account interpreting results of these studies. First, Sunitinib doses th

AR is an enzyme involved in conversion of glucose into sorbitol using NADPH as a cofactor [46]. This AR polyol pathway generates sorbitol accumulation and NADPH depletion. NADPH participates in detoxification via glutathione (GSH) reductase pathway [47]. Therefore, reduction of NADPH attenuates remo
